Former Spurs man doubts if large squad can be kept happy

Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has pinpointed Tottenham Hotspur's large squad as the reason for their woeful start to the season. Spurs' miserable start to the 2007/2008 campaign led to the sacking of Martin Jol, with Juande Ramos appointed as the Dutchman's successor. And Murphy, who left Tottenham for Fulham in the summer after finding first-team football hard to come by, believes Ramos will struggle to keep all of his stars content. "I am surprised at the way their season unfolded," Murphy said in the Daily Star ahead of Wednesday's encounter against Tottenham.

Happy

"I know people talk about Ledley King being missing, but I think it was more than that. "There were a lot of players there of good quality and trying to keep many players happy, when some are playing and some are not, is difficult for any manager. "I know Ramos has done well, but, especially given that they are not in the UEFA Champions League, it's difficult to keep them all happy. "They have players who want to be playing week, week out, so it will be interesting to see how that develops."
