Paul Robinson believes determination and hard work played a pivotal role in his return to Tottenham Hotspur's first team.
Robinson was dropped for the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final against Arsenal and was replaced by Radek Cerny for the following 10 matches.
However, he was recalled for February's second leg Uefa Cup clash against Slavia Prague and has retained his place since.
And the 28-year-old, who has replaced the injured Scott Carson in the England squad to face France on Wednesday, has revealed that he never lost his belief of reclaiming the Spurs No.1 jersey.
"As soon as I came out of the side, my target was to get back into the team as soon as possible," he said in the Tottenham matchday programme.
"I've played all my career without featuring in a cup final, so I didn't want to miss out.
"Contrary to all the reports about handing in a transfer request or whatever, the truth of the matter is I got my head down and worked as hard as I possibly
could to get my place back in the team."
