Gillingham are hoping to extend Tottenham Hotspur winger Charlie Daniels' stay at the Priestfield Stadium.
The 22-year-old has impressed in making two appearances since joining from the Premier League club and scored a sensational strike on Saturday in the 3-0 win over Grimsby Town.
Gillingham boss Mark Stimson told skysports.com that he would like to keep the young midfielder for longer than the initial month.
"Charlie's loan was for a month with a view to extending it and he's a player that has given us good balance on the left-hand side since he's been with us," Stimson told skysports.com.
"He's enjoyed himself whilst here and we'd love to extend his stay."
Happy with squad
The Gills' impressive start to the season means that Stimson does not have to rush around for recruits in the loan window.
He added: "I'm not in a major rush to bring players in because I'm very happy with the squad I've got here, but if something came along that I think will help us then we would try to do something about it."
Gillingham face a trip to Shrewsbury on Saturday, who have started the season in similar fashion to the Gills, with both currently occupying a top seven place and Stimson is looking forward to the challenge.
"On paper it looks like a very good game and I hope it will be," said Stimson. "Shrewsbury have started the season off very well and they'll want to maintain that and push for the automatic places like ourselves.
"Both teams go into the game with a good start and like most games whoever performs best on the day will come out on top. We are looking forward to it."
