Birmingham hoping to land Spurs midfielder

Birmingham City are in transfer talks with Tottenham to bring Kevin-Prince Boateng to St Andrews. The former Hertha Berlin man is currently well down Juande Ramos' pecking order and has made just one brief substitute's appearance since February. Blues boss Alex McLeish has now confirmed the Championship club are in talks with Spurs for the German midfielder. However, as McLeish is yet to speak with the player himself, he remains unconvinced whether the 21-year-old is willing to give his all to the cause.

Interest

"I can confirm our interest in Kevin, I think it's well known now," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail. "Karren (Brady, the managing director) has been talking to Spurs for days and there's something there to be done. "Kevin's been back in Germany and I've not really had the chance to speak to him properly yet, which is something I need to do. "When I bring in a player to this club, I need to know that he wants to play for Birmingham, that he wants to fight for the cause and is not a reluctant conscript."
