Mark Stimson hopes to be able to extend striker Andy Barcham's loan at Gillingham until the end of the season.
Barcham originally joined the Gills from Tottenham Hotspur in September and is due to return to White Hart Lane after the Boxing Day game with Dagenham.
However, after scoring both goals against Stockport on Tuesday night to set up an FA Cup third-round tie with Aston Villa, Stimson aims to hang on to Barcham.
The Gillingham manager is also keen to arrange a contract for first-team coach Mark Robson, who has been at the club since the early part of the season.
"I want to sort out something for Mark Robson, that's my first priority," said Stimson.
"Looking down the list we have got Andy Barcham, I would like to tie him up for the rest of the season if I can somehow.
"If there's anything else available we'll take it, but we're working within the budget we've got."
