Spurs keeper expected to return in four weeks

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has undergone a knee operation and will be sidelined for the next four weeks. Gomes has lost his status as Spurs' first choice this season and had surgery on Tuesday after suffering a tear in his medial meniscus. The Brazilian has been restricted to just four appearances this term after summer signing Brad Friedel was installed as Harry Redknapp's No.1. The 31-year-old has featured three times in the Europa League, and once in the Carling Cup, and has not even appeared on the bench since early January. He has spoken of his frustration at his lack of first-team football and has been linked with a return to PSV Eindhoven at the end of the season. Gomes has made over 130 appearances for Spurs since he moved to White Hart Lane from Dutch side PSV in 2008.
