Feyenoord's impressive midfielder, who can play in a variety of positions, registered an impressive performance and could have earned himself a lucrative switch to England.
Leeds United are thought to be one of the clubs in the frame, with fellow Australians Harry Kewell, Jacob Burns, Mark Viduka and Danny Milosevic already on the Yorkshire side's books, but Middlesbrough also have a long-standing interest in Emerton, with Terry Venables a confirmed admirer of his talents.
The 22-year-old, who shone against Scotland in a famous friendly win for the SocceRoos, chose a move to Rotterdam despite being coveted by Manchester United, and he does seem happy with life in Holland.
"Unless there is something very special coming up, I will stay with Feyenoord," he declared.
Emerton has previously admitted that it his dream to play at Old Trafford, and his desire is to move to England's top-flight at some stage of his career, but he feels he is still developing his game in the Netherlands.
Blackburn Rovers boss Graeme Souness was in the stands eyeing possible recruits for next year's Premiership campaign, but he has already gone on record as saying a midfielder is not necessarily his priority.
Feyenoord's Republic of Ireland attacker David Connolly, who grabbed two goals in the 4-3 win over Ajax, is perhaps a likelier target, as he is out of contract in the summer, and may jump at the chance of a move back to England.
