The giant defender has firmly established himself in the Rovers side this season and he scored his first two goals of the season in Saturday's 5-2 thumping of Newcastle.
The 22-year-old progressed through the youth ranks at Ewood Park and is tipped for a big future by Rovers boss Graeme Souness.
"Martin is a fine prospect who has what it takes to go on reach the very top by becoming a full international," Souness told the club's official website. "He has great speed and awareness and the touch of a midfield player.
"On top of that all he is only 22, which is a baby in terms of the position he plays and he is keen to learn and improve."
Taylor was delighted to have been rewarded with a new long-term deal.
"Blackburn is a club going places, you can really sense that, and I am very happy to be getting the opportunity to secure a long-term future here," admitted Taylor.
