Rovers boss Graeme Souness has confirmed that he is willing to let the 25-year-old go on loan to build fitness with Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole keeping the former Crystal Palace man out of the starting XI.
Blackburn have already confirmed that local rivals Burnley have approached the club about Jansen and now Coventry appear to be in the running.
Sky Blues boss Gary McAllister has already had a successful loanee in the form of Richie Partridge from Liverpool and will hope to capture Jansen to help for the promotion push.
Meanwhile, Coventry have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest striker Jack Lester.
Lester is out of contract at the end of the season and may have to take a pay cut to stay at the City Ground.
City are ready to swoop for the former Grimsby Town man as they look to add some firepower to their front-line.
Elsewhere, Sky Blues stopper Richard Shaw has signed a one-year extension to his contract that sees him remain at City until June 2004.
Other good news for Coventry is that they have finally received international clearance for Spanish international midfielder Vicente Engonga.
The 37-year-old will go straight into the squad to face Rotherham United on Saturday.
