The Scot was less than impressed with a number of challenges from the hosts, particularly one from Danny Mills which left Vratislav Gresko with a suspected broken foot.
Souness was also unhappy at a tackle from Alan Smith on Lucas Neill which he branded 'dangerous', but chose not to blame referee Paul Durkin despite the official's decision not to punish either offender.
"I got excited a couple of times because I felt there were a couple of challenges which could have led to injuries to players," admitted the Ewood Park chief.
"The man in the street who pays his money likes to see aggression on a football pitch. It's something I encourage my team to be.
"But sometimes that can cause people problems as it did today, either the one receiving it or the one giving it.
"You can't blame the referee because the pace of the game today is such that things will be missed.
"He is one of the best referees around and he got most things right."
