Blackburn Rovers will hand Ryan Nelsen a new contract this summer.Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes will reward Ryan Nelsen for his form since arriving at the club by handing the New Zealand skipper a new deal in the summer.
Nelsen was brought to Ewood Park on an 18-month contract from DC United, but has impressed Hughes and made himself a fixture on the team-sheet.
Hughes confirmed that the club would now seek to extend Nelsen's stay at the club - praising the player for his performances.
"We have spoken to Ryan and told him that it is our intention for him to be here for many years to come," said Hughes.
"He was an unknown quantity when he arrived, having played at a different level to The Premiership.
"That's the reason for his original contract being the length it was, so it is only right and proper that he is rewarded for having performed so well."
