The 19-year-old has announced his arrival as a talent for the future as he ended this season as the joint top scorer in the reserves, and made his first team bow against Fulham in the final home game of The Premiership campaign.
With Rovers boss Mark Hughes (pictured) eyeing striking recruits for next season Derbyshire could see his first team chances restricted, although he is happy to continue his development in the second string.
"I've been working hard in training and doing my best in the reserves," Derbyshire told the club's official website.
"The management staff have been superb and since [reserve coach] Glyn Hodges has come in I've played every game for him.
"My main aim was just to work hard and do the best I can, but to get another contract for a further two years is a great achievement for myself.
"Next season will be a very big time for me, I want to be around the first team, get a squad number and continue to score more goals for the reserves."
