Ryan Nelsen will remain at Blackburn after being granted a work permit.
After the recent capture of Shefki Kuqi, Blackburn will make another signing of sorts by tieing Ryan Nelsen to a new contract.
Nelsen was an inspirational figure at the heart of Rovers' defence, as Mark Hughes successfully guided his side away from the relegation dogfight.
There were fears over the work permit of the New Zealand international, but those worries were allayed at a hearing in Sheffield on Monday.
Now Hughes can go ahead and offer Nelsen a longer deal at the club, and the former Wales manager revealed his delight at the court's verdict.
Hughes told the club website: "It is excellent news. Ryan was magnificent for us after arriving in the January window, establishing himself as a major figure in our plans.
"Prior to the work permit hearing we had already talked to him in detail about a new three-year contract and now we can set about the job of finalising all of that. I am delighted the matter has been resolved."
