Mark Hughes wants more new players at Blackburn before the start of the season.Blackburn boss Mark Hughes insists he wants to add more players to his squad before the start of the new season.
Hughes has so far only been able to bolster his forward ranks with Craig Bellamy and Shefki Kuqi arriving at Ewood Park.
"We hope for opportunities to bring more players in. It's not finished yet until the window closes," said the manager.
"Sometimes opportunities come and you are able to get more quality into the football club and we'll continue to look while the window is open."
While Hughes looks at bringing in new names, one old face is looking to extend his stay.
Brad Friedel, Rovers' erstwhile number one, has never hidden his desire to sign a new deal and now he has reiterated his eagerness to sign an extended contract with the club.
Friedel has just one year left on his contract, but at 34, the American feels he can go on for a few more seasons yet.
"I'd love to finish my career at Blackburn and there's no reason for me not to," he said.
"If the deal's going to get struck then I'd like it done before the season starts because I don't really like negotiating during the season, I want to be able to concentrate solely on my football.
"When you're coming to the end of contracts, it's important at my age to know what you're doing because it's difficult moving house and uprooting kids.
"So hopefully things will get sorted out before the start of the season."
