Amo close to Rovers return

Lorenzo Amoruso is close to making his Blackburn Rovers return after a year out.

Lorenzo Amoruso is close to making his Blackburn Rovers return - a year after his last appearance in The Premiership.

The former Rangers defender is expected to be in contention for a starting place at Ewood Park within two weeks following recovery from a knee injury and a more recent Achilles problem.

Blackburn executive chairman John Williams said: "Lorenzo's knee is fine now but he had a setback when he aggravated his Achilles.

"He seems to be through that now and he's back in training again so he could be available for selection again soon."

The Italian has made just 18 league appearances in two seasons for Rovers after moving south of the border in June 2003.
