Blackburn defender Lorenzo Amoruso appears to have played his last game for the club.
Earlier this week Rovers manager Mark Hughes hinted that he would be inclined to listen to offers for the Italian once the transfer window reopens next month.
The 34-year-old Italian only recently became available to Hughes after a lengthy recovery from summer knee surgery.
But Amoruso, who has not made a first team appearance for more than 12 months, will go under the knife once more this week to correct a bone growth in his ankle.
While only a minor complaint, this latest setback will sideline Amoruso until January by which time Hughes will hope to have offloaded the player.
Amoruso, who joined the club from Rangers in June 2003 for £1.4 million, has just six months remaining on his Rovers contract but could be set to depart Ewood Park sooner rather than later.
