Crystal Palace are mulling over a £1 million bid from Wigan for Emmerson Boyce.
Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor has revealed that the Championship side are mulling over a £1 million bid from Wigan for Emmerson Boyce.The defender has been a stalwart of the Eagles side ever since signing from Luton in the summer of 2004, and has now attracted interest from the big-spending Latics.
After capturing Emile Heskey for a club record fee, Paul Jewell has now made an approach for Boyce who was one of Palace's standout performers in his only season in The Premiership in 2004/2005.
The 26-year-old was also named as The Eagles' Player of the Year last season and, with just 12 months to run on his contract, Taylor says Wigan have given the club something to think about with their offer.
"There has been a bid, but, as far as I am concerned, we have not yet given an answer," said Taylor.
"Emmerson is in the final year of his contract, so this is something we have to think about."
Palace have already lost Fitz Hall to The Latics during pre-season and Boyce could now become the latest player to move to The JJB Stadium.
Meanwhile Jewell has confirmed he has ended his interest in Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage.
Reports indicated that the Latics boss had made an offer to the Welsh star, but Jewell refutes such suggestions and has indicated he is on longer interested in pursuing a deal.
"That's not true," Jewell told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph when asked about the reports.
"We did ask Blackburn about Robbie through the correct channels, because he's a player I thought would be a good addition to our squad, but Blackburn said he was not for sale.
"That's as far as the conversation went. We never spoke to the player, we didn't make him a wage offer and as far as I'm concerned the matter's closed.
"We move on to other targets."
