Jason Brown has hailed his switch to Blackburn as the 'chance of a lifetime'.
Blackburn's new goalkeeping signing Jason Brown has hailed his switch to Ewood Park as the 'chance of a lifetime'.
Battling against relegation with Gillingham in League One last season, Brown's move to Rovers will give the free transfer signing the chance to forge a career in the top flight.
It is an opportunity Brown is keen to grasp, although he admits he may have to bide his time at Mark Hughes's outfit, with Brad Friedel the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Ewood Park.
"This is maybe the chance of a lifetime," Brown told Sky Sports News. "I want my career to be a case of 'when I did' and not 'if onlys'.
"I'm not saying that I'm going to go there and expect to play within a year.
"He [Friedel] has probably been one of the best goalkeepers in the country over the last three or four years. He's a great goalkeeper and he seems like a great pro and I know they think very highly of him."
Brown made his Wales debut in May's friendly against Trinidad & Tobago and the former Charlton trainee hopes his move will help him cement his international claims.
"I'm hoping by going to a Premiership club and being the only one [of the Welsh goalkeepers] at a Premiership club, that will keep me in and around it," he added.
"I'm hoping to be given another chance and to keep my number one jersey."
