Morten Gamst Pedersen has accused Salzburg defender Jorge Vargas of deliberately elbowing him in Blackburn's Uefa Cup clash on Thursday.
The Norway international was on the receiving end of a stiff challenge from the no-nonsense Chilean midway through the second half of Blackburn's 2-0 win.
Television replays suggested Vargas was fortunate to evade the censure of referee Joao Ferreira, and Pedersen has claimed his opponent had targeted him for some rough treatment.
"The referee apparently didn't see the elbow. It's incredible," Pedersen told Dagbladet.
"He was after me the entire match. Fortunately, I only got a cut under the lip, but it could have been much worse."
While Pedersen was left to lick his wounds, Rovers managed to avoid a similarly painful experience by securing progression to the Uefa Cup group stage.
A first half strike from Benni McCarthy and a picture book effort from David Bentley confirmed Rovers' superiority, and Pedersen felt it was a fitting reward.
"It went very well for me and the side. We deserved to win," added the 25-year-old.
