Derby County have signed Blackburn defender James McEveley for £600,000.
Derby County have sealed their fifth signing of the January transfer window after concluding a deal for Blackburn defender James McEveley.
The Rams have paid an initial £600,000 for the defender who joins the Championship promotion hopefuls on a three-and-a-half year deal.
Derby are pushing hard for a place in the Premiership next season and manager Billy Davies was bursting with praise for his new signing who will add some extra depth to the Pride Park backline.
"We are delighted to have Jay. He is an excellent young player who gives us great competition and we're looking forward to working with him," said Davies.
"The people we are bringing in have good pace, good presence, a lot of good ability is coming into the squad and of course they are raising the bar in terms of quality.
"We are delighted to bring in another quality player."
Even a long term injury to Andre Ooijer was not enough to convince Rovers boss Mark Hughes to keep hold of McEveley, who made 26 appearances for Blackburn after making his debut at 17.
