Blackburn and Wigan have entered the race to sign Marseille striker Djibril Cisse, according to reports in France.
Cisse revealed over the weekend that he was desperate to return to the Premier League after two seasons in France.
The former Liverpool man, who missed out on a place in France's Euro 2008 squad, believes he needs a fresh challenge to reignite his career.
He feels he is more suited to the English game, while there are also personal reasons for his decision.
Manchester City, Tottenham and Portsmouth were all linked with the 26-year-old in January, and L'Equipe now claims that Blackburn and Wigan are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Blackburn are currently without a manager but, with speculation rife about the future of Roque Santa Cruz, it is understood that club bosses have identified Cisse as one of their top targets.
Wigan chief Steve Bruce has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his attacking options and has not yet been able to secure a deal for Egypt international Amr Zaki.
