Newcastle and Blackburn offers denied

Rosenborg have dismissed claims that Newcastle and Blackburn have lodged bids to sign starlet Per Ciljan Skjelbred. Skjelbred was a target for West Brom earlier this summer but he shunned a move to The Hawthorns in favour of penning a new deal with the Norwegian giants. Despite his recent new deal, both Newcastle and Blackburn were said to be readying bids of around £6million to sign the 21-year-old. But Rosenborg insists they have not had any bids for the talented midfielder. "As usual, during this time of the year, it's just rumours," sports director Erik Hoftun told Adresseavisen. "The rumours are fluctuating just before the transfer window is closing. "We haven't heard anything from the clubs and we haven't received any serious offer regarding Per Ciljan." Hoftun confirmed that a bid of £6million would be hard to turn down. "It's just rumours. But in case we had got a real offer of six million pounds we would of course have needed to consider it," he said.
