MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has revealed his frustration at seeing Keith Andrews leave for Blackburn Rovers, but wishes him all the best for the future.
The former Wolves midfielder followed Paul Ince to Ewood Park on deadline day and Di Matteo told skysports.com that the timing made it difficult for him to bring in a replacement.
"I knew from day one that he was going to Blackburn, but the way that it happened was a bit disappointing, how he left just before the transfer window shut," he told skysports.com.
"That didn't give me the time nor the money to spend on other players, so that wasn't great for me. I wish him good luck because it was a dream move for him."
Speculation surrounding Sam Baldock's future continues to spiral, but Di Matteo is not interested in letting any more of his squad depart.
"First of all I would like to do well and then the players linked away from the club can move on. If the players are playing to a high standard then of course they are going to attract attention from other clubs, but to make a club successful you don't sell your best players."
The former Chelsea midfielder is also searching to bring in quality players as the club attempt to achieve back-to-back promotions this season.
"We are always looking to strengthen and if there any players available that will add to the quality of our team we will look to bring them in, but finding these players available is proving rather difficult."
