Keeper praises resilience after Sunderland draw

Paul Robinson says Blackburn Rovers are targeting another top-10 finish in the Premier League this season. Rovers ended last term in a creditable 10th position and have been set the challenge of maintaining that standard by manager Sam Allardyce. Monday's 0-0 draw at home with Sunderland left Rovers in 14th spot, but Blackburn are just a point outside the top half of the standings. Robinson, who produced an excellent save to deny Darren Bent in the first half, admits Rovers are determined not to rest on their laurels. "We set our standards last year and the manager doesn't want us to fall beneath those standards," Robinson told Sky Sports. "We've got our own goals and targets, and we certainly need to push on."

Great credit

Blackburn played the second half against Sunderland with 10 men after Christopher Samba was sent off in first-half stoppage-time for pulling back Danny Welbeck. Goalkeeper Robinson understood referee Lee Probert's decision and was happy to emerge from the game with a point. He added: "To be reduced to 10 men so early in the game is always going to be an uphill battle for us. "To come out with a 0-0 draw we showed a lot of resilience tonight and it's great credit to the boys. "The refs are in a really difficult position at the moment, there is a lot of scrutiny in the media these days about tackling and a referee's performance and different things. "He's made a decision and we're not going to criticise him for that."
