Well expect Jennings joy

Motherwell are confident Steve Jennings will pen a new deal and are closing on a move for Gavin Gunning.

Fir Park outfit also keen to land Gunning

Motherwell are confident Steve Jennings will pen a new deal and are closing on a move for former loan star Gavin Gunning. Jennings is currently out of contract after allowing his previous agreement at Fir Park to run down and, as a free agent, he has attracted interest from Aberdeen and Hearts. No switch has been sealed, though, and he will report back for pre-season training with Well on Tuesday. They hope they can convince the 26-year-old to commit to them once more, with fresh terms already on the table. Assistant manager Kenny Black told the Daily Record: "We've obviously lost John Sutton and brought in Michael Higdon.

Boost

"But over the next couple of days we hope to get a few things tied up. "We are hopeful Steve will sign his contract and we can get it formally announced over the next couple of days." Well are also planning to bring Blackburn defender Gunning back to the club, following a successful loan spell last season, and transfer talks have been opened with Rovers. Black added: "Gavin has a year left on his contract at Blackburn and there is interest from other clubs. But we're in talks and would love to get him here. "If we can get those two in that would be a boost. But we won't be able to bring in many more as we will be going with a tight squad."
