Rovers' boss had 'no doubts' about signing Yakubu

Steve Kean insists it was not a gamble bringing striker Yakubu to Blackburn. And the Rovers boss seems to have been proven right with the Nigerian currently on a goal spree having hit the back of the net nine times from just eight Premier League starts since his summer move from Everton. Everton manager David Moyes was left frustrated with the 29-year-old and eventually sent him on loan to Championship outfit Leicester for the second half of last season. But Kean has had no such problems with the player who bagged all four goals in Blackburn's victory against Swansea at Ewood Park last weekend. He told The Sun: "I had no doubts about signing him because when you look at his record he has scored roughly a goal every two starts at every club he's been at - Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Everton. "He has been punching above that here, which is great news for us. "I always felt he would do well for us."
