Newcastle's out-of-favour midfielder Henri Saivet has joined Ligue 1 club Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old Senegal international only arrived at St James Park in January but has failed to secure a first-team place under Rafa Benitez following his £5m move from Bordeaux.
Saivet has made just two starts since joining the club and has not featured in any of Newcastle's matches so far this season.
His last appearance came in February, when he was used as a late substitute during the home victory over West Brom.
"I am very happy and relieved to have the chance to play again," Saivet told Saint-Etienne's official website.
"I want to win for the Greens. I will do everything to show I am motivated."
Saviet could be closely followed by Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout, who is set to join Saint-Etienne on loan, according to reports in the French press.
The 23-year-old failed to impress in his first season in English football as Villa, like Newcastle, were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.
