Aston Villa’s Leandro Bacuna expects to find out on Monday whether the Football Association will try to increase his punishment for chest-bumping an assistant referee.
Bacuna was dismissed at the end of Saturday's 1-0 win over Derby after reacting to a decision by the linesman, who awarded the visitors a throw-in.
The Dutchman showed his frustration with the call, squared up to the assistant referee and appeared to barge him with his chest, with referee Andrew Madley showing Bacuna a straight red card.
That triggered an automatic three-match suspension but, should the FA consider the offence to be worth more than that ban, it would submit a claim that the standard three-match punishment was "clearly insufficient".
That claim would then be heard by an Independent Regulatory Commission who could either reject it and keep the ban as it is, or increase the suspension by whatever number of games it deems appropriate.
Villa won the game - their first victory of 2017 - thanks to James Chester's header.
