MARCO MARCHIONNI has lavished praise on a trio of his opponents in Italy Under-21s' friendly with their English counterparts on Tuesday evening.
The Parma midfielder was suitably impressed with Gareth Barry, Alan Smith and Jermain Defoe during the 1-1 draw at Bradford's Valley Parade.
"Against England, we made a good game," he told planetfootball.com.
"Especially in the first half but then they put on another forward and were dangerous.
"I loved the defender who scored the goal, Barry, and then the two forwards, Smith and Defoe.
"They can fight for something important in the Under-21 tournament."
