The Villa chief has admitted that he is interested in Japanese midfielder Shinji Ono and South African ace MacBeth Sibaya.
Taylor, who is out in the Far East working on the World Cup for television, has watched the players on numerous occasions and he revealed they have caught his eye.
Feyenoord star Ono played a pivotal role in helping Japan reach the last 16 and although Taylor admitted he was interested in the diminutive star, he said he would have to consider a lot of factors before pursuing his interest.
"Ono is a good player as we've seen at the World Cup, but what I have to do is size up whether a player can do it over 38 games in The Premiership not in a one-off cup tournament," said Taylor.
"There is also all of the other stuff that goes with it, so I can understand why Arsene Wenger says he wouldn't sign a player from a World Cup. If nothing else the price shoots through the roof if they do well."
Taylor has also been impressed by the performances of Bafana Bafana star Sibaya.
The 24-year-old, who still plays in his native South Africa with Jomo Cosmos, is tipped for a big future by Taylor.
"He is a good player and one of few still playing in South Africa but I don't think he'll be there long."
Meanwhile, Taylor admitted that he had dropped his interest in Danish winger Dennis Rommedahl.
Taylor had enquired about the PSV Eindhoven flier, but his offer was dismissed out of hand and it seems that Villa have been priced out of a move for the player.
"It's true I made an enquiry for the player some time ago, well before the World Cup even began, but I was told by his club he was not available and that was the end of the matter."
