Postma has been forced to play second fiddle to the impressive Finn since arriving from De Graafschap in the summer.
But the Dutch shot-stopper replaces the suspended Enckelman for Wednesday's Worthington Cup tussle against Oxford.
It will be his first start in a Villa shirt after a previous substitute outing when Enckelman was sent off against Southampton, and Postma is eager to make the most of his opportunity.
"As a goalkeeper you don't get many chances to force your way into the first team," he told the club's official website.
"This is a chance for me, like the Southampton game was. It's a chance to show the manager what I can do.
"Peter Enckelman may be unlucky to be suspended, but there's no room for sentiment. You get so few chances and when you do get a chance, you have to take it. If I can show how good I am, it will be very good for me."
Postma is also hoping to use the cup tie against Third Division Oxford as a springboard for a starting berth in The Premiership.
He added: "I hope to start soon in a Premier League match but as long as Encks is playing good matches like he did last weekend then the only thing I can do is wait.
"I know I'm getting better and I just need to show that on the big stage now."
