The former England international was disgusted by Alpay's gloating reaction to David Beckham's penalty miss in England's 0-0 draw against Turkey.
Dorigo, speaking courtesy of The 1 Club exclusively told skysports that he feels Alpay had an ulterior motive.
"Before the game a member of the Turkish press told me that Alpay was playing to save his career," said Dorigo.
"He suggested that he needed to restore his credibility in Turkey so that he could find himself a new club back in his home country.
"He has certainly been having a hard time at Villa recently and the fans have turned against him.
"The reaction to David Beckham's penalty miss was disgusting - and I don't know how the England captain kept his head.
"I don't know if I would have stayed so calm - there is no room for that kind of thing on the football pitch.
"He has made life in England very hard for himself - and you can understand why he is an unpopular guy."
