Eagles swoop for Edwards

Crystal Palace have moved to ease their defensive problems by bringing in Aston Villa star Rob Edwards on a month's loan.

Eagles caretaker manager Kit Symons has been scouring the transfer market to bolster his squad with himself and Tony Popovic being the only fit centre halves at the club.

Edwards has failed to break into the Villa first team this season and boss David O'Leary is willing to let him go out on loan for regular action.

The 20-year-old will provide much-needed cover and he goes straight into the squad for the trip to the Bescot Stadium to take on Walsall.
