The Denmark international was badly at fault for West Ham's third goal and endured an uncomfortable game all evening.
Villa boss David O'Leary is thought to be considering the option of bringing in summer recruit Stuart Taylor, who is set to make his debut on Saturday against Tottenham.
Sorensen believes the whole of Villa's side should accept responsibility for what was a hugely disappointing performance at Upton Park.
"I hope this was just a 'bad night at the office','' Sorensen told the club's official website.
"It was close to embarrassing and we all have to take the blame. No-one got anywhere near what we're capable of and against any team you'll lose.
"They won comfortably. I don't think we ever threatened in any way. So we have to look at ourselves. We have a big game on Saturday and that's what's important now.
"I thought we were well punished and we have to take it as a lesson, because we can't let it happen again.
"Nothing was good enough and we have to hold our hands up. This has to be a wake-up call. We have to look at ourselves.''
