Aston Villa keeper Thomas Sorensen believes playing aginst his former club will be awkward.
Aston Villa travel to Sunderland on Saturday for what some have already dubbed a relegation six pointer.
However, the game has added significance for Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen who, along with Gavin McCann and Kevin Phillips, is returning to a club where he spent a number of happy seasons.
Sorensen left The Stadium of Light in the clearout that followed their relegation in 2003 and is hoping he can enjoy his trip back to Wearside.
"The first priority is to get three points because of the situation we are in," he said.
"It is going to be special and a bit awkward to go back to Sunderland.
"It is a place where I have so many good memories after spending five years at the club.
"The supporters were fantastic towards me and that is why it is going to be difficult for me going into the away dressing room. But once the game kicks off I'm there to help Villa win.
"If we win the game it is going to hurt Sunderland. But it is a professional game and I am doing my job.
"Hopefully all three of us will get a good reception I will be staying up in Sunderland at the weekend to see a few friends after the game. It will be nice to be back."
