Liam Ridgewell says he will overcome his recent tendency to give away penalties.Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell says he will emerge from his unfortunate run of giving away penalties as a better player.
The England youth international has been at fault for the Midlands side conceding four spot kicks in his last five games, at a time when Villa, and manager David O'Leary, are in desperate need of results.
In The Villans' last league encounter Ridgewell handled a Scott Parker effort, allowing Alan Shearer to score for Newcastle, although the 21-year-old is hoping that his run of bad luck is now over and he can emerge as a valuable player for O'Leary.
"There have been times when I thought, 'Not again, what's going on?' but hopefully I've had my share of those sort of decisions and can start to get the rub of the green again," said Ridgewell.
"I know I've got to learn but I'll do everything it takes to develop as a player.
"This run of games I'm having at the moment can only make me a better player."
