Thomas Sorensen feels Villa's defeat to Doncaster was the turning point in their season.Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen claims defeat to Doncaster in the Carling Cup was the turning point in their season.
Doncaster proved to be real giantkillers in the competition, they also took the scalp of Manchester City and took Arsenal to penalties, and they humbled Villa in stunning fashion in November.
Villa boss David O'Leary found himself under real pressure following the Belle Vue setback, but the players have found their form in recent weeks and are starting to climb the table.
Danish shot-stopper Sorensen feels it is too early to start talking about Europe, but admits their season turned at Doncaster.
"We all took it as an embarrassment," Sorensen told Sky Sports News. "They played well on the day, but we never reached the level we know we can.
"Everyone had a look at themselves and said this is not where we want to go, we want to have good results and to do that you have to work hard in every game, no matter who you play."
Looking at the rest of the season, Sorensen added: "We talked about relegation a couple of weeks ago. We just want to keep climbing the table and see where that takes us.
"It is a bit too early to talk about that (Europe). Maybe a couple of months down the line we can talk about it."
