Steve Bruce believes Liam Ridgewell has the right character to be a success with Birmingham.
The former Aston Villa defender moved across the second city to the newly-promoted outfit this summer in a £2million switch.
Ridgewell will be expected to face a hot reception on his Villa Park return, but Bruce has no doubts over the 23-year-old's ability to handle the pressure.
"I believe he is going to be a fantastic acquisition for this club," he told the club's official website.
"Not many players have made the jump across this city but rest assured Liam is not frightened by the situation or by the challenge it presents.
"I've every confidence he can handle everything. I've also known Liam since he was a young lad and I've always been impressed with him.
"He's just the right age, he's good in the air, has a lovely left foot and is very competitive."
