Shot-stopper desperate to leave Villa Park

Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has slammed manager Martin O'Neill for refusing to allow him to leave the club during the January transfer window. The Denmark international is unsettled at Villa Park after losing his place in O'Neill's first-team to loan signing Scott Carson. And with Carson's move from Liverpool expected to be made permanent, Sorensen is desperate to leave Villa and he had been linked with a loan move to Derby. Sorensen is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave the Midlands club for nothing and the 31-year-old has questioned O'Neill's decision to ask for a fee for his services in the current transfer window. "O'Neill has said he is counting on me until the summer," Sorensen told Bt. "From a business point of view, there is no logic in that because he could find a goalkeeper as back up for a tenth of my salary. "There have been some opportunities which have collapsed for different reasons, the price tag Villa have slapped on me being one of them. "Derby were close, but the price Villa demanded for a loan blocked it."
