Aston Villa have revealed that Richard Dunne suffered a broken collarbone against Manchester City and is set to be sidelined for up to eight weeks.
The Republic of Ireland international was forced off during Villa's 1-0 defeat by the Premier League leaders on Sunday after falling awkwardly.
It was initially suggested that he would be out of action for around a month, but further medical tests have pushed that return date back.
With an operation required to fix the problem, Dunne could now be missing until the middle of April.
Fracture
"Richard Dunne sustained a fracture to his right clavicle in the game against Manchester City," read a statement released on the club's
official website.
"He will undergo an operation today (Monday) in Birmingham. It is anticipated that he will be sidelined for up to eight weeks."
Meanwhile, Villa have also announced that Chris Herd will come back into contention for their trip to Wigan on 25th February.
The midfielder has been out of action since damaging ankle ligaments in December.
