Lambert ready to listen to offers for defender

Paul Lambert has admitted Alan Hutton could leave Aston Villa before the end of the transfer window if the club receive an offer. Hutton has been linked with a move to Stoke City but the new manager says the club have not received any enquiries for the defender. The 27-year-old Scotland international only joined the club from Tottenham at the start of last season, but struggled to win over the fans during a difficult campaign at Villa Park. Rumours over his future have surfaced after he was left out of the party that travelled to the United States, and he did not figure in pre-season games against Peterborough and Nottingham Forest.

Unclear

Lambert said the defender's future is unclear, commenting: "Will he be a Villa player before the transfer window closes? I don't know, I'm not so sure. "But there have not been any enquiries for him at the minute. "He's shown a good attitude in training so there are no qualms on that front." Lambert also hinted that he is still on the look-out for players himself and will meet with owner Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner to discuss the next phase of his overhaul of the squad. He added: "As manager you always want to bring in one or two more players."
