The winger has recently returned from a loan spell at Wigan Athletic and started his first Premier League game since New Year's Day in Sunday's 3-0 defeat by Manchester United.
He is out of contract at Villa Park at the end of the season and the 24-year-old is determined to do his best to secure an extension.
Albrighton said in the Birmingham Mail: "If I can play games and show the manager what I'm capable of, who knows what will happen?
"I said at the start of the season it's a massive year and now I've got into the starting line-up hopefully I can keep my place and get a few more games.
"He has always told me I'm in his plans and to get back to where I was. That's what I'm aiming to do and if I can do that then brilliant."
Lambert recalled Albrighton from his loan stint at Wigan and the Villa boss was pleased with the player's contribution against United at the weekend.
"Marc did great," Lambert told the club's official website. "Marc was excellent. That was his first game in the Premier League for a long time, due to injuries.
"I thought his performance was very good. He put some great balls in. His work-rate and energy was great.
"He was definitely the plus out there."
