Vote: Federico Macheda scores the winner vs Aston Villa, 5 April 2009
Are there many better ways for a fresh-faced 17-year-old to make their name? Macheda’s last-minute winner in front of the Stretford End was simply superb.
The Italian took the ball on the turn and curled the ball into the far corner to put Manchester United on the brink of winning the Premier League.
He put his name in Manchester United folklore with this astonishing goal and it has remained on the Premier League highlights reel for years since.
Vote: Paulo Wanchope makes himself an instant hero vs Manchester United, 5 April 1997
Paulo Wanchope treated the Manchester United defence with utter contempt before he applied a well-placed finish to instantly win over the Derby supporters.
Wanchope beat four players in a 60-yard dribble en route to his goal at Old Trafford; the ball seemed to stick to his feet.
The Costa Rica international instantly knew what a significant moment this was as Derby secured a 3-2 win. When he was asked about the goal, later in his Premier League career, he said: "It changed my life."
Vote: Fabrizio Ravanelli scores a hat-trick for Middlesbrough vs Liverpool, 17 August 1996
Fabrizio Ravanelli arrived on Teeside with a Champions League winner’s medal to his name and expectations were high.
On the opening day of the 1997/98 campaign Liverpool took the lead three times and on each occasion Ravanelli had a response in front of a rocking Riverside stadium.
The Italian dubbed the ‘White Feather’ earned himself a man of the match award with a magical hat-trick.
In his post-game interview he said: "I am very happy and honoured to keep the ball and the shirt. I will put them alongside my trophies."
Vote: Didier Deschamps pulls the strings in Chelsea 4-0 Sunderland, 7 August 1999
Didier Deschamps had just led France to World Cup glory and added an ingredient to Chelsea’s midfield they had been missing.
Gianluca Vialli’s side blew Sunderland away on the opening day of the 1999/00 season and it was clear Deschamps was pulling the strings.
Deschamps patrolled the space in front of the defence and also became the fulcrum of Chelsea’s counter-attacking play.
The highlight of his opening day display was his perceptive long pass to Zola which led to the standout goal of the match: Gustavo Poyet’s brilliant volley.
Vote: Jurgen Klinsmann scores and produces ‘dive’ celebration, 20 August 1994
Jurgen Klinsmann showed his German humour on his Tottenham debut with his diving celebration.
He developed a reputation for being a ‘diver’ before he arrived at White Hart Lane and here he found the perfect way to silence his critics. The Spurs fans immediately fell in love with their marquee summer signing.
Klinsmann scored the winning goal in their 4-3 thriller against Sheffield Wednesday and the manner of the win typified the attacking football Tottenham played under Ossie Ardiles.
