Dwight Gayle has passed a medical and agreed personal terms on a move to Newcastle, according to Sky sources.
The Crystal Palace forward will become Rafa Benitez's second signing of the summer following the arrival of goalkeeper Matz Sels from Gent.
Sky sources understand Newcastle have agreed to sign Gayle, who has been Palace's top scorer in each of the past three seasons, for a fee in the region of £9m.
Gayle travelled to the north east on Thursday to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms on a switch to St James' Park.
The 25-year-old striker cost £6m when he arrived at Selhurst Park from Peterborough in the summer of 2013 and has scored 26 goals in 74 appearances, more than half of which have come from the substitute's bench.
He was close to joining Bristol City last summer for £9m but signed a three-year deal with Palace in April.
Sky sources also understand Palace have triggered Andros Townsend's £13m release clause and the Newcastle winger is on his way to London to undergo a medical.
