Find out how a Newcastle fan won the crossbar challenge at Sunderland

Sunderland may sit bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, but the club's fans have certainly not lost their sense of humour or good will...

While Sunderland fans were hoping their side could turn a 0-0 half-time scoreline against Preston North End into a much-needed win, the half-time crossbar challenge was about to take an unusual turn.

A rival supporter sporting a Newcastle shirt took centre stage by firing his effort against the crossbar and proudly celebrating in a style reminiscent of Magpies legend Alan Shearer.

The site of a Newcastle fan enjoying himself at the Stadium of Light would not usually be welcomed by anyone at Sunderland, but, on this occasion, allegiances took a back seat.

The Newcastle supporter was one of a group of fans from various clubs that had walked from Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium to the Stadium of Light in a bid to raise money for the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

Unfortunately for the home faithful, Sunderland were unable to provide any cheer after half-time as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat which leaves them five points from safety with eight matches remaining.
