The skilful Peruvian has been a bright spark in a dull season for The Magpies, but has also courted controversy by playing for his country when injured.
Rumours abounded that the diminutive winger would leave the North East, with talk of Spanish giants Real surfacing.
However, the club have now announced that they have found accord with the player, who will remain at St James' Park until 2006.
On top of this team-mate Andy Griffin has followed Steve Harper, Shay Given and Gary Speed in agreeing a new deal, as manager Bobby Robson firms up his squad for the coming season.
"We are delighted to announce so many of our players have signed new contracts for us, said a Newcastle United spokesman.
"But we are particularly happy for Nobby because it seems to have been all bad news for him lately."
Solano also expressed his delight at the move, adding: "After all the talk about me moving abroad I am happy to be staying at Newcastle United.
"And the length of my contract shows just how committed I am to the club as I will now be staying at the club until I am 31."
