Caldwell has been at Easter Road since the start of February after failing to find regular first team football with The Magpies.
Hibs had been keen to make the 20-year-old's move permanent but are unable to finance the swoop while champions Celtic had been waiting in the wings.
However, the Scottish international, who made his debut against France in March, revealed that he will thrash out his future when he returns from the national team's Far East tour.
The talented stopper is hoping he can resolve the situation to prolong his period with Hibs.
"I will be looking at my options when I return with Scotland," said Caldwell.
"I'll have to sit down and chat with both Bobby Robson and Bobby Williamson but there is every possibility I will stay with Hibs.
"I have enjoyed my time here immensely and it was through playing regular first team football in the SPL with Hibs that I received international recognition and the call-up."
