The Danish winger played for Robson at PSV Eindhoven and is flattered that Robson wants Rommedahl at St James' Park, with The Magpies ready to put in a bid to the Dutch team.
"The great thing about him is that he always has time for his players and treats them with respect and understanding," said Rommedahl.
He added: "At PSV, the coach Eric Gerets can be a distant figure. I always felt the approach of Bobby Robson was better suited to getting the best out of you.
"He is a great coach and very astute tactician. But he is also a players' manager and I hope I get the chance to play for him again next season."
Meanwhile, Nobby Solano, who starred in Newcastle's side that finished fourth in The Premiership last season, has stated he will not be involved in another club versus country row next season and will not play friendlies for Peru.
The flying winger said: "I will not play in any friendlies next season because I think there comes a time when you owe it to your club. And Newcastle have been good to me."
