The forward is rated as one of the most exciting attacking prospects in the country, and has been part of the Tynesiders' impressive youth sides this season.
Indeed, the 18-year-old has even been on the bench in The Premiership recently, and is likely to become a firm favourite with the St James' Park faithful.
"We are thrilled that Michael has agreed a new contract with us," beamed Magpies boss Bobby Robson.
"He has been a prolific goalscorer for the junior sides in the last couple of years, and has begun the new season with a bang for the reserves, so much so that he has justifiably forced his way into the first team picture.
"Michael, together with the other young players we have at the club, will have a major influence on our future, one that we hope will be very bright for Newcastle United," he told Newcastle's official website.
The teenager is expected to make rapid progress during the remainder of the campaign, and could not be happier with life in the North East.
"I am a Geordie and I can't ever see myself playing for anyone else," commented Chopra.
