The youngster clashed angrily with the Magpies defender during his side's comprehensive 4-1 romp against the ten-man hosts.
The feud seemed to continue for much of the game, with Griffin particularly fired up in front of the home crowd.
However, the impressive Inter rookie was pleased with how the game went.
"It was an attractive stadium," he told the official Inter website. "An exceptional crowd.
"The English fans always sang.
"At the end, we were applauded, which was very emotional.
"We wanted to begin by holding the ball but, immediately, arrived a goal and a sending off.
"We were able to stay calmer even if they never stopped attacking.
"I went to hit the ball when he (Griffin) came in low with his head," he said of the incident.
"He has lifted his leg, which I did not appreciate.
"My team-mates immediately came to my help, however it was nothing serious."
